Meet the Teacher
I myself have grown up within the Halton District School Board where teaching has been a goal of mine since I was a young student. Teaching is a true passion and I can honestly say I enjoy and love coming to work everyday. This is my 6th year here at TJS and I absolutely love our school community, both students and staff.
I am passionate about getting kids outside to learn, I have had the opportunity to be involved in workshops where I have learned the importance of students getting outdoors and I strive to make this happen. I also work hard to build compassion, kindness and understanding of others within each student. As well as the idea that everyone has a story and we need to take that into account each day when interacting with others, remembering to always put kindness first. I also like to highlight the fact that everyone learns differently and we all have our own strengths and needs, including myself. Therefore we work hard to find the tools and strategies that work specifically for us in order to be successful. Being unique is what makes us so great and we all have different perspectives and abilities to bring and share to our classroom community each day.
I enjoy coaching teams here at TJS as well as leading different clubs and opportunities for students to get active and involved. Taking breaks each day throughout our learning to be active is also important in our class, being realistic that our brains need a break throughout the day in order to refocus and accomplish important tasks.
I am very excited to be teaching grade 4 again this year and look forward to building a strong classroom community with the students where they will each have a voice; adding their own unique perspective and creative touch to our learning. I hope to have an open line of communication between home and school and am always available to chat.
